How To Make Your Home Office Cozy For Winter

When you work from home, winter is really quite the season to deal with. Everything’s cold and dreary and it’s just oh so tempting to crawl under the warm blankets and take a nap more often than you ought to. However, as you might well know, even with the winter chill, life and work have to go on. One way to keep the winter blues from getting to you is to make your home office a cozy and comfortable space to work in. So, here are some tips to help you make your home office a place that motivates you to get the work grind on.

Invest in a Really Comfy Chair

Nothing’s wrong with the typical black chair on wheels. However, if you’re really going for maximum work comfort, invest in something nice and soft. You’re going to be sitting in that chair all day long so might as well make sure that it’s also ergonomic to cater to your health too. This will transform the look of your workspace and make your home office more inviting to work in.

Lighting

Working in the gloom helps the body crave naps more than ever. However, despite the sheet of white outside, you can still get some of that natural light into your workspace. If you can, reposition your desk by a window to get as much natural light as possible. If your home office doesn’t have any windows, maximize whatever lighting you have. In addition to your overhead lighting, use your lamps to keep your home office bright and cozy.

Organize Your Space

Clutter takes up a lot of space and it also causes stress, especially when you can’t find that one thing or document you’re looking for. So, don’t wait for spring to clean up your home office space. Tidy up your space at the end of each day and put everything back where it belongs. This way, you’ll have a clean and cozy workspace to go into each day. Plus, you’ll be able to be more productive and comfortable throughout the day.

Set the Temperature Right

Let’s face it. If your fingers are half frozen and your teeth are nearly chattering, you wouldn’t get any proper work done. And no amount of jackets would really make everything as comfortable as possible. So, set the temperature of your home office to that which makes you comfortable enough. If you have central air and you’re afraid of bothering other people, get yourself a heater or a portable air conditioner that’ll allow you to set the temperature of your workspace to your own comfort.

Add Texture to the Room

A cozy rug can do wonders for any room in your home including your home office. Get yourself one that’s soft and can keep your bare feet warm over winter. You can even layer two of them to add more texture and dimension to your decor. In addition to that, you could also throw some faux fur or sheepskin over the back of your chair to make it comfier. You could even add in a throw blanket for the extra chilly days.

Keep Your View Interesting

Between being cooped up inside and having only white to see outside, anyone can easily get a little down. So, personalize your work office and fill it with things that motivate, interest, or inspire you. If you already have the decor in the space, try moving things around to help create a new atmosphere. Or if you’d like, try something entirely new to keep things interesting. You could also light up some candles with scents that make you happy. Not only can these improve your mood but, they can also help you be more productive.
